Livonia police took a report Nov. 12 from a 66-year-old Livonia woman who said she was walking her Welsh terrier dog by Newburgh Lake in Hines Park at about 4 p.m. that day.
She said her dog was then attacked by a another, which she described as a pit bull, while she was west of Newburgh Lake.
She said her dog was bitten several times by the other dog, which was not on a leash at the time, according to the police report. She tried to separate the two, but fell on the ground when she did so. She suffered a bruise on her forehead and was also bitten by the dog, according to police.
The Pit Bull was being walked by a male, who refused to identify himself when the woman asked for it.
He then fled with his mauler. This is called "Pit and Run".
Livonia police took the report, though officers said after the report was filed that the incident appears to have taken place outside of their jurisdiction.
They're asking that the Pit Bull owner come forward with vaccination paperwork for his dog.
Police say the trail where the incident took place appears to be in Plymouth Township, which begins west of Newburgh Lake on the boundary created by Eckles Road.

Janet Reid is still in shock. She says keeps replaying the moment over and over in her head.
"She’s traumatized, I’m traumatized," said Reid.
It happened around 4 o’clock Sunday, when the pit bull approached her one-and-a-half-year-old Welsh Terrier.
"I thought it was going to sniff like dogs usually do. This one lunged and grabbed onto her and was aggressive," said Reid. "It had her pinned down, it was on her stomach, it was on her back."
Janet even got bitten herself, while trying to separate the two dogs.
"My hands got bitten, I’ve got six holes on my hands from the dog. I didn't realize until this morning that I have marks on my leg, four punctures where this pit bull's mouth was on my leg," said Reid.
"To hear [my dog] crying like a child, it was horrendous," said Reid.
For now, all this championship breed Welsh Terrier can do is hope her wounds heal fast and that she’s back to her old cheerful self again.
"She is feisty, this dog is not afraid of anything. I’m afraid it may be different now," said Reid.
Reid filed a police report with Livonia PD. She says she’s a dog lover of all sorts, but after this recent attack, she’s thinking twice.
