11-year-old boy attacked by two dogs

OHIO -- An 11-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after police say he was attacked by two pit bulls on Monday afternoon.

A short time after 4 p.m., the Hamilton County Sheriffs were called to a home at the 5300 block of E. Miami River Road for a dog attack.

Officials say an 11-year-old boy was home alone with his dog when two pit bulls tried to get inside the house, possibly to get his dog. The boy was afraid and ran for his grandfather's home at Lot D and was attacked by the dogs.

The boy's grandfather saw and heard the commotion, went outside and shot one of the dogs. The dogs then fled from the area and have not yet been found.

The boy was transported to Children's Hospital for injuries to his left arm, upper right arm, and his back. He was treated and released.

The SPCA said the dogs ran home after the incident. The owner has been cited for failure to properly confine the dogs and failure to have a license for the dogs.
