Dog owner charged after pit bull bites girl

LORAIN, OH — The owner of a 1-year-old pit bull terrier named "Pimp" was charged by police Friday night after the dog bit an 11-year-old girl.

Joseph Kristoff, 33, of Lorain, was cited for confinement of dogs and registration of dogs following the incident that occurred about 10:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of Nichols Street.

According to police, an 11-year-old girl was walking home from a friend’s home when she was charged by the dog, which bit her lightly on the buttocks. The girl ran home and told her mother, who called police after hearing about the dog bite.

Police contacted Kristoff after the dog returned to the man’s yard. Kristoff said he had just let the animal out to relieve itself but was unable to provide police with proof of registration for the dog.
