OHIO -- An Akron woman who used a pit bull terrier to attack drug-unit officers during a search of her home has been convicted of cocaine and heroin possession and other offenses, authorities said Monday.
Rachel Ann Stull, 39, is to be sentenced June 16 by Summit County Common Pleas Judge Tammy O'Brien.
On Oct. 19, as officers from the Akron police SWAT team and drug unit were searching Stull's home, she used her two pit bulls to block officers from entering a room, prosecutors said. She turned one of the dogs loose as officers tried to get past her.
The dog was shot and killed.
A co-defendant, Solomon J. Stallings, 36, was able to throw a stash of drugs out of a window during the fracas, prosecutors said.
Officers still seized drugs, scales and money in a bedroom, prosecutors said.
Stallings was sentenced earlier to four years in prison after pleading guilty to cocaine and heroin possession and child endangering.
Stull's 10-year-old daughter was inside the home at the time.
