Owner whose dog killed his niece is back in court

Urfan Ahmed just can't stay away
from those fighting dogs
UNITED KINGDOM -- THE uncle of a young girl who was killed by one of his dogs appeared in court on Tuesday morning for allegedly breaching a court order imposed following the death.

Zumer Ahmed was killed by an American Bulldog belonging to Urfan Ahmed on April 17 last year. She was attacked in the kitchen of the family home in Cotton Walk, Broadfield. She was just 18 months old.
"The dog was literally eating this little girl.
It was devouring her and shaking her like a rag doll. Blood dripped from its mouth and the girl's skin was hanging off her skull." -- witness to attack
Urfan Ahmed, 33, who was given a banning order following the tragedy, pleaded not guilty to breaching the order when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates' Court.

It is alleged that between February 16 and March 22 he had custody of two dogs in contravention of the order, which was imposed in July last year after he admitted keeping an illegal dog, a Dogo Argentino. It stopped him from having custody of dogs for five years.

Mr Ahmed, of Burdock Close, Broadfield, has been placed on unconditional bail. He is due to face trial at Mid Sussex Magistrates' Court, in Haywards Heath, on July 22.
