The pit bull owner's house |
Sheila and Rick Cooper say they were walking their dog in the area of Saratoga Avenue and Medford Street on Binghamton's South Side Friday night.
Then a pit bull ran toward them and attacked their dog.
A girl who was walking by saw Cooper pull the pit bull off of his dog, but then the pit bull attacked him.
Another man who lives nearby came outside to help and was also attacked near his front yard.
Police arrived on the scene and had to shoot the pit bull to stop it from attacking any more people.
The animal was killed.
Police do not know who the dog belongs to and are investigating.
"At first I didn't know what to do, but then I just grabbed the dog by the collar and threw him off of him, and as that happened, the dog attacked me, and bit a hole in my leg. I was able to hold the dog down for maybe ten minutes before somebody got there to take my place so I could tend to my leg," said Michael Hill of Binghamton.
"It's horrible. They need to be found. I want them to be found really bad, for everybody. We're sitting there. They could have more dogs for all we know. It's a nice place up there. They have a lot of nice people, and the dog attacked innocent people. It's not right," said Samantha Difalco of Binghamton.
Cooper is still recovering at Wilson Hospital.
