Owners' Pomeranians attacked twice by pit bulls

COLORADO -- A Colorado Springs couple is nursing one of their two beloved Pomeranians back to health, again.

Mr. Butler is recovering from injuries suffered after two Pit Bulls attacked him and his owners in Shooks Run Park in the Springs.

This, as their other dog, Miss Brandee is still recovering from a dog attack that happened in the same park back in May.

Miss Brandee escaped attack this time, but Mr. Butler was bitten, along with his owners Cheryl and Roger Perkins were also injured, "It's hard to defend yourself against two pit bulls attacking you, one from the front and one form the back," explains Cheryl.

Miss Brandee was injured in May, when an unleased Pit Bull attacked her, in the same park, "They're cute little dogs, but maybe in the pit bulls eyes they look like a wild animal, were not sure," says Cheryl.

This time the attacking dogs were leashed, but they got away from the person walking them, who the humane society says wasn't their owner. After the attack a large group gathered and police and the Humane Society responded.

Being animal lovers, Cheryl and Roger say they were never too concerned about Pit Bulls before, but now they're not too sure. They say their trips to the park are over for now.

The Humane Society says the person that was walking the Pit Bulls was issued two Duty to Restrain Citations, for not being in control of the dogs. He was also served with two City Dangerous Animal Charges.

The Humane Society didn't take custody of the dogs, because neither have any other incidents on their records.

[Hmm, seem to be some inconsistency here. They say they couldn't do anything about the pit bulls. However, per the Animal Control of Colorado Springs' website: "It shall be unawful for any person to own or keep any animal which attacks or threatens to attack any person. Such animal is declared to be dangerous and a nuisance and may be impounded or confined."]
