LA GRANGE, IL -- A Westchester police officer was bitten and a 2-year-old Boxer dog was shot and killed in the 800 block of Suffolk Avenue on June 2.
Police initially responded to a report of a stray dog. Upon arriving, police were advised that the dog had gotten loose the night before and was acting in an aggressive manner, police said.

Police said the dog came forward aggressively and was then Tasered in an attempt to apprehend the dog. At the time, the dog lunged at a police officer, biting both his hands, according to police reports.
The dog then charged both officers, at which time it was shot and killed, the report stated.
The dog’s owner, Jared Koutnik, 31, of 626 Suffolk Ave., was then cited by police for allowing his dog to be at large and for not having a current village dog license. According to police, he had been cited eight times for allowing his dog to be at large and seven times for failing to obtain a village dog tag and once for allowing his dog out without a leash since May 18, 2010.
