MULDROW, AR -- A Muldrow woman is recovering after being attacked by an Alaskan Husky Thursday morning, according to neighbors.
The dog's owner says the woman was dropping her baby off at the grandmother's house around 10 a.m. It happened on Beller Street near the city park. According to the pet owner, 7-year-old dog named Bandit somehow escaped from her backyard. She told 5NEWS her neighbor, the grandmother, ran over to her house to get her.
When the home owner came out she saw that the dog had the woman pinned to the ground. The dog's owner ran over yelling at him, grabbed him, pulled him off the victim. According to her, the woman suffered injuries including a long gash to her one of her legs. The victim was taken to a local hospital.
The dog owner says Bandit did not like strangers but has never bit anyone before now. She has two little girls, and is now afraid of the dog and asked animal control put the canine down. The woman expressed sincere concern for the well being of the victim, saying she was worried about her.
A neighbor who lives across the street told 5NEWS that he has played with the dog several times, and even worked on the dog owner's heating and air unit in the backyard. He said the dog was very friendly and seemed surprised at news of the attack.
