Connecticut: Four more dogs found in home of Canton woman, Jessica Yazmer, charged with animal cruelty

CONNECTICUT -- A 28-year-old Canton woman has been charged with cruelty to animals after police found 36 animals, most of them dogs, in her apartment.

NBC Connecticut is reporting that an additional 4 dogs have been found in Jessica Yazmer's Center Street apartment.

Police say they were called to the home on Wednesday after a neighbor heard what she thought was a dog fight going on inside.

Authorities say Yazmer was keeping the animals in crates, some of which had feces up to 2-inches thick inside. Animal control officer Beverly LaPlume tells the Hartford Courant that none of the animals had food or water.

The dogs, including beagles, Australian shepherds, pit bulls and a golden retriever have been taken to two local kennels.

A message seeking comment from Yazmer was left Thursday. She is due in Family Court on July 20.
