Cops search for pit bull that attacked Queens man: 'There was blood everywhere'

QUEENS, NY — A vicious pit bull is on the lam after savagely attacking a man near his Queens home, police sources and the victim said.

Frank Rescigno, 37, said he had just left his home on 225th St. in Oakland Gardens about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when his neighbor's canine lunged at him and tackled him on the sidewalk.

"The next thing I know, this pit bull is tearing apart the back of my leg," said Rescigno, a paralegal. "It ripped the skin off my leg. Then it latched onto my arm. There was blood everywhere."

Rescigno was taken to North Shore-Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he needed more than 200 stitches.

But when cops went to the owner's home, no one would open the door. Police later gained entry, but the tan dog, Blue, was nowhere to be found.

Police later arrested one of the people inside the home, Iamze Tetruashvili, 67, for tampering with physical evidence and obstruction of governmental administration.

The owner, Katarzyne Bluma, was given a summons for disorderly conduct.
