Woman seriously injured when attacked by her own pit bull

JONESBORO, AR -- A Jonesboro woman is in critical condition at St. Bernards Medical Center after police say she was attacked by her own dog.

According to the Jonesboro Police Department, the attack happened on Saturday, July 2.  That afternoon an officer was called to a home on Olive Street.  When he arrived he found the woman, who has not been identified, suffering from a severe dog bite to her arm.  EMTs were called and the woman was transported to St. Bernards in critical condition.

According to the police report, the woman's pit bull apparently started fighting with another pit bull inside the home.  Animal Control retrieved the dog and euthanized it.  The dog's head was taken to the Craighead County Health Department where it will be shipped to Little Rock for testing.
