NEW YORK -- A Rochester man accused of releasing two pit bulls on police officers over the weekend is in the Monroe County Jail.
Brandon Jones, 25, of Dr. Samuel McCree Way was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, both misdemeanors, said Rochester Police Officer Stephen Scott.
Officers were called to Jones’ residence to investigate a domestic dispute about 11 p.m. Sunday, Scott said. When officers arrived at the house, they knocked on the front and rear doors. No one answered, but several minutes later someone yelled out a window, warning police that if they didn’t leave, he’d take action.
Jones is accused of releasing two large pit bull dogs on the officers, who were in front of the house.
The dogs aggressively charged toward the officers, Scott said. One of the officers drew his gun and fired, striking the lead dog, he said.
Both dogs retreated to the rear of the house and were later taken by city Animal Control officers, Scott said.
Jones eventually left the house and was apprehended. He pleaded not guilty Monday in City Court. He was remanded to the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $200 cash bail. Jones is scheduled to return to City Court at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 15.
