Pit Bull attack at library results in $158,000 lawsuit

OREGON -- A woman is suing the city of Molalla for almost $158,000 because she was attacked by a pit bull named Snoopy while visiting the city library.

Molalla resident Renee Marshall, 55, was visiting the library in October when she saw Snoopy in the building, according to a lawsuit filed in Clackamas County.

The dog belonged to library volunteer Linda Forney, who was shelving books at the time.

Marshall said she approached the dog in a friendly way when he lunged at her and bit her face.

[She is partially to blame for the attack. She approached the pit bull. She attempted to pet it. Who willingly approaches a pit bull?! Not me!]

She is asking for $7,693 to cover medical expenses and $150,000 in non-economic damages to cover scarring, headaches, fear, mental anguish, post-traumatic stress and other suffering.

Molalla City Manager John Atkins said the case will be handled by the city's insurance carrier.
