Virginia: Pit Bull attacks disabled boy. Neighbors have complained repeatedly about this same dog.

VIRGINIA -- A 13-year-old disabled boy was attacked by a neighbor's pit bull Friday afternoon in South Richmond.

Alston Dixon now has scars on his arms and bruises on his stomach. But the worst scar is on his face when the dog's nearly bit off Alston's top lip.

Tammy Dixon says her son, who suffers from ADHD, Cerebral Palsy and is also bipolar, will have to undergo cosmetic surgery in the next three to five days.

"The youngest son had sicked [sic] the dog on him,"  Dixon said.

Dixon said that's when the dog knocked Alston to the ground, but that the teen managed to fight him off.

"He comes in the house all bloody. He hit me with the door and he's screaming bloody murder. Blood just gushing everywhere," said Dixon.

"I could've killed the dog but the dog was no where to be found," said Dixon. "I looked for the dog before the ambulance got here."

The dog owner spoke with CBS 6's Sandra Jones off camera.  She said she wasn't home at the time and that her pit bull had never attacked anyone before.

"I saw the child.  I couldn't believe it," she said.

Eighth District City Councilwoman Reva Trammel said that neighbors have complained to her, police and animal control on numerous occasions about the aggressive pit bull.

"I want to see what was the breakdown here," Trammell said. "How many calls for service, what did they do, has the dog attacked anyone else before? "

A staff member at Richmond's Animal Care and Control said the animal is in custody and has been quarantined.  But there's no word on whether or not the owner will face any charges.

Now, Tammy Dixon may seek charges in the attack.
