The baby was just 11 days old when the dog attacked it around 3 Monday morning. The dog has been put down.
Animal Control says it was up to date on all of it's shots, but the head is being sent to Austin to test for rabies.
As far as criminal charges go, Amarillo Police say possible options include some sort of child endangerment, but ultimately that's up to the District Attorney and a grand jury.
