Search underway for Beagle that bit boy

CALIFORNIA -- The public is being asked to help find the dog who bit a young boy at a park in Enterprise.

According to the Haven Humane, an 8 year-old boy playing in Alta Mesa Park in the 2000 block of Saturn Skyway was bitten on both legs Monday night by an unknown Beagle dog.

"Apparently a man with the Beagle dog was also in the park when the dog left his side and attacked the juvenile,” said Capt. Smith, Redding Animal Regulation and Haven Humane Society Chief Operations Officer. “The man then took the dog, got in a dark, grey Chrysler 300 vehicle and drove away.”

Haven’s CEO Dr. Ray John said it is vital to find the dog and the owner as the boy would otherwise face the possibility of a series of rabies preventative injections.

“We need help locating the car, the man and most importantly the dog so we can quarantine it for evaluation of rabies,” Dr. John said.

Anyone with information can call Redding Animal Regulation at (530) 241-2550 or Dr. John at Haven Humane Society (530) 241-1653.
