Dog attack sends two to hospital

TEXAS -- Two dogs were removed from a Wichita Falls home by city Animal Control officials Friday afternoon following a reported attack on three people in the neighborhood.

Wichita Falls police said three people were injured when the dogs got loose from a backyard at a home on the corner of Third and Patterson streets. Two people were taken to United Regional Hospital with what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Police were originally called to the neighborhood about 4 p.m. on a report of a dog attack. The caller said a woman and two of her family members had been attacked by the dogs.

The caller said a person with a firearm was preparing to shoot the animals.

Officers arrived and found that both dogs involved in the attack had found their way back into a fenced backyard. Emergency medical workers were called to transport two of the victims to the hospital.

Animal control also was called in to take the involved dogs. The dogs' owner also was contacted and helped officials put the dogs into city trucks.
