MISSISSIPPI -- Three children were treated for injuries after an attack by a neighbor’s pit bull Thursday sent them to the hospital, officials said.
The attack occurred about 1 p.m. in Quail Creek off Lamey Bridge Road in Harrison County, Maj. Tony Sauro said.
Two children, 8 and 9 years old, were treated at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport for bites on their legs, and a 10-year-old bitten on the face was taken to Ocean Springs Hospital to be treated by a plastic surgeon, he said.
Sauro said the dog’s owner, who was not identified, helped deputies catch the animal. It is being quarantined and officials will determine if the animal is vicious, he said.
The dog will not be returned to the owner, he said.
No charges have been filed, Sauro said.
