OREGON -- The Coos County, Ore., sheriff's office says a pit bull hit by a car bit an animal control officer in the neck when he tried to take the animal to a veterinarian.
KCBY reports that the injured dog grabbed county Animal Control Officer Rick Hoover just below his chin and over his windpipe on Thursday.
Hoover managed to pry open the dog's jaws and free himself. He was treated at a nearby hospital.
The dog's owner was contacted and took the animal to a vet. The female dog's injuries were determined to be so severe the animal was euthanized.
