Family dog attacks toddler

OHIO -- A Trumbull County toddler was treated at Akron Children's Hospital after being bitten by a dog.

It happened around 11 a.m. Tuesday at a home on State Route 5 in Newton Falls. Firefighters said the child, who is about 2 years old, suffered bites to the head and neck and will require a lot of stitches.

A woman is seen leading the dog out to the
Animal Control vehicle.

The dog is said to be a 5-year-old female pit bull / shar pei mix, and was the family pet. Officials said the owner signed the animal over to the Trumbull County Dog Warden to be destroyed.
