Phoenix officer shoots, kills pit bull

ARIZONA -- A Phoenix police officer shot and killed a pit bull Sunday afternoon that officers said was acting aggressively.

Police said neighbors reported the pit bull was running loose and trying to attack a woman and her young daughter about 1 p.m. near 67th Avenue and Van Buren Street, but the woman and child were able to safely enter a house.

Officers searched for the dog and eventually shot and killed it when it  turned on them. The dog apparently died while being transported to a veterinarian, police said.
