LOUISIANA -- A Bossier Animal Control employee is on paid administrative leave after two children were bitten by a neighborhood pit bull.
The incident happened Wednesday in the Shady Grove neighborhood.
Authorities say the dog was tethered in a backyard in the 1800 block of Bayou Circle.
The chain was long enough for him to get through his owner's fence and into a neighbor's garage.
The neighbor was confronted by the dog and called Bossier Animal Control for help removing the animal from the property.
An Animal Control officer attempted to take the animal into custody, but the dog broke free.
The dog ran down the street where he bit two boys who were playing in a ditch near Normand and Shady Grove.
A neighbor managed to pull the dog off the boys and the Animal Control officer took it to the Bossier Animal Shelter.
Both boys were bitten several times. They were treated and released from a local hospital.
Bossier City spokesman Mark Natale says the dog has no record of rabies vaccinations, so it's being kept under quarantine for the next ten days.
There's no word yet of whether charges will be filed against the dog's owner.
The city employee has been placed on paid administrative leave while the case is under review.
