UNITED KINGDOM -- A 48-year-old Whitley woman required hospital treatment after she was injured while attempting to help her Labrador who was being attacked by two other dogs.
She was walking along Kingsbridge Road, Whitley, at around 10am on Sunday when the animals, described as a cross between Staffordshire Bull Terriers, English Bulldogs and Mastiffs, off the lead and without collars, ran towards them before one attacked her pet.
As she tried to pull her dog away, one of terriers turned on her and caused injuries to her ankle, arm and hand.
The woman was helped by a neighbour who hit the attacking dog with a stick, causing both terriers to run away, after hearing the victim shouting for assistance.
She took her Labrador to the vet before going to the Royal Berkshire Hospital where she received a stitch on her right hand and was prescribed a five-day course of antibiotics.
Neither the victim nor the neighbour had seen the dogs before and do not know who they belong too.
The attacking terrier is described as being a cross between a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, an English Bulldog and a Mastiff. It was also 2ft 6ins tall, mainly white in colour with some brown spots, had a cropped tail and its ears were down.
