The attack, which happened in an Aurora neighborhood near Buckley Air Force base, sent three people to the hospital on Friday, including Margi Stout.
Stout said she was released from the hospital on Saturday. Her dog Boo, a Havanese, is still at a veterinarian's office being treated for puncture wounds and severe bites. Stout said she and her dog will make a physical recovery, but said the emotional damage is already done.
Stout said the attack happened in a matter of seconds.
"We go into the little grassy area in the middle of the complex and we just walk around the grass," she said. "We were just standing there and these two dogs just came out of nowhere."
Stout said she and Boo were quickly overpowered by the dogs, who she estimates weighed about 60 pounds each.
"They got Boo in their mouth and I bent down to pick him up to try to get him out, away from them, and they grabbed my arm and just proceeded to take, to drag us around over there and they knocked me down," she said.
"I was kicking and screaming and punching and yelling at that point, trying to get them off of me and off my dog," she said.
On Saturday, two dogs were found dead about 12 miles away from the neighborhood, apparently hit by a car along E-470. Police believe those were the dogs from the attack
Meanwhile, Stout is still recovering from her wounds.
"I've got over 20 centimeters of lacerations in my left arm that are all stitched up," she said. "I've got I don't know how many bites up and down my legs, probably closer to 20."
But she said what pains her the most is the fact that nobody seems to know who the two dogs belonged to.
"People must know who owns these dogs," she said. "I want the owners to come forward and just own what happened. I couldn't imagine having my dog do this to someone and not come forward and own it."
Stout said it will probably be a while before she walks her dog again, and is asking all other dog owner to keep their dogs on a leash whenever they are outside.
Aurora police and the Animal Care Division are still investigating this incident. On Friday officers were knocking on doors trying to find the dogs' owners.
