Police Officers Shoot Pit Bulls

OHIO -- Steubenville police shot and killed two pit bull dogs that were running loose and bit a woman in the hand in the 1300 block of Wellesley Avenue on Sunday evening.

Officers said the two pit bulls kept officers inside their cruisers, but another officer was able to distract the dogs. Police reported the dogs ran to the rear of a house in the neighborhood, and the officer was able to get them inside a fenced area.

Police said the dogs were barking viciously and trying to get out of the gate when the officers shot and killed them.

The owner of one of the dogs arrived home and was charged with having a vicious dog without insurance, police reported. They noted the woman bitten by one of the dogs wasn't sure if she was going to seek medical help for the bite to her hand.
