Pit bull goes on the attack in Arizona
ARIZONA -- Three people and a dog are recovering after a pit bull escapes from its leash and goes on the attack. It happened at a popular hiking area in Ahwatukee Wednesday, near 24th Street and Ray.
Police said the boy's white pit bull first lunged at a smaller dog -- and then attacked the owners of the dog -- before turning on the boy who was walking the dog.
A father and daughter, along with the boy, tried to break up the fight.
All three were bitten, but they will all be OK.
"This is an extremely popular trail for a lot of the people in the neighborhood and as you can see some people drive over and hike here as well so you see a lot of dogs on the trail actually," says Jill Bittner, who also owns a dog.
The pet was quarantined by Maricopa County Animal Control, because it did not have a license or vaccination record.
The smaller dog was taken to a veterinarian for treatment.
