Police battle father, son, pit bulls on call

COLORADO -- Colorado Springs police say they arrested a man for obstructing officers Friday night after he fought arrest and a pair of pit bulls attacked a cop.

Police were called to the 3400 block of Verde Drive just after 10 p.m. after neighbors reported a disturbance. Officers say they arrived to find  belligerent 40-year-old Tony Disnuke, who at first refused to answer the door and was “acting aggressive” when he did open the door.

Two officers took Disnuke into the front yard where he began scuffling with police, reports said.

During the struggle two dogs, identified by police as pit bulls, ran from the house into the yard.

Disuke’s teenage son, who police say jumped on an officer’s back in a bid to help his father, also entered the fray.

Police dealt with the teenager quickly, but the aggressive dogs posed more of a problem. As one of the officers grabbed Disnuke, one of the dogs attacked, nipping and biting the cop’s arms and back.

Police say the other officer at the scene contemplated using his pistol on the dog, but couldn’t get a clear shot. Instead, he used pepper spray on the dogs, causing them to back off while Disnuke and the teenager were cuffed and stuffed into patrol cars.

Because of his heavy work clothing and bullet-resistant vest, the officer who was bitten suffered only welts and bruising

Disnuke was taken to jail on investigation of obstructing police. His son was cited with obstruction of police and released. The dogs were taken away by the humane society.
