TEXAS -- Pit bulls on the loose are keeping Fort Worth police busy this week, with officers responding several calls for help.
On Saturday shortly before 11 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of Townsend Drive after a resident called police and said a man was on the street lying next to a bicycle with two dogs hovering over him, according to a police report.
When police arrived they saw a brown mixed breed Labrador and a brown and white mixed breed pit bull. The 49-year-old victim told police the pit bull breed attacked and bit him, knocking him off his bicycle. He said Labrador breed didn’t attack or bite him, according to the report.
Other incidents Saturday included a call at 4:36 p.m. when police were dispatched to the 900 block of Marion Avenue. The caller told dispatch two aggressive pit bulls were in the caller’s yard.
At 5:55 p.m. a call to dispatch was for help at an apartment complex in the 3000 block of West Normandale Street. The caller said a very aggressive pit bull was chasing several kids around in the pool area.
At 6:42 p.m. police were called to the 3200 block of Ellis Avenue. The caller told police red pit bull was barking and preventing entry into the house. The caller told police the dog was dragging a chain around, which had wrapped around some bushes in the caller’s yard.
On Friday, officers were called to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth at 7:37 p.m. According to a police report, two people were being treated for an attack by a pit bull in the 5600 block of Chariot. A 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman told police they were taking a walk when a black and white pit bull charged at them, biting them several times.
On Wednesday, police were called to the 2800 block of Grover Avenue at about 7 p.m. A 57-year-old man told police he was walking a small poodle in the neighborhood when a large, brown, pit-bull mixed breed charged toward him and the poodle, biting and wounding both, according to a police report.
