CALIFORNIA -- Jet Set, a small hairless Chinese Crested dog, is recovering from his injuries in the jaws of a Rottweiler mix on Wednesday, March 7.
Jet’s owner, Anna Maria Zirkel of Twentynine Palms, is grateful to Dr. Eliopulos of the VCA Valley Animal Medical Center Emergency Hospital in Indio for giving lifesaving emergency care to little Jet.
However, Zirkel has been unable to pay the remaining $691 of the veterinarian bill for the after-hours emergency care. She’s hoping that the community can help by sending contributions toward the bill directly to VCA in Indio.
In addition, VCA will match the contributions and make a donation to Living Free Sanctuary in Idyllwild.
“Living Free Sanctuary is a really great organization,” VCA Valley Animal Medical Center Emergency Hospital’s manager Joseph Marshall says. “We patch up a lot of animals for them.”
Even though Jet is still mending, he is acting as a therapy dog for one of Zirkel’s friends in Yucca Valley, who is gravely ill.
“Jet needs my friend because it’s a quiet place while he’s healing, and my friend needs Jet to be with him for comfort because he’s so ill,” Zirkel says.
For those wishing to make a contribution toward Jet’s vet bill, please send donations directly to VCA Valley Animal Medical Center Emergency Hospital, attention Joseph Marshall, 46920 Jefferson Street, Indio, 92201. Reference Jet and Zirkel, March 7, with your donation.
