No charges after Scranton man shoots pit bull

PENNSYLVANIA -- No charges or citations will be filed after the shooting of a pit bull Saturday morning, city police Sgt. Jeff Vaughn said.

Sgt. Vaughn said Richard Johnson Sr. was walking his German shepherd on the 600 block of Powderly Court at 9:03 a.m. when a loose pit bull started attacking his dog.

Fearing for his dog's safety, Mr. Johnson pulled out a 9 mm handgun and shot the pit bull once, killing it, Sgt. Vaughn said.
