Woman bitten by pit bull in Fort Collins park

COLORADO -- A woman was bit in the hand this morning at Eastside Park in Fort Collins while trying to break up a fight between two pit bulls, according to Larimer Humane Society.

Police and ambulance responded to the scene, where the woman was treated and taken to a nearby medical facility while the dogs were placed in separate patrol cars.

The victim in a dog bit incident at Eastside Park in Fort
Collins is attended to by members of Poudre Valley EMS.

The dogs were later returned to the owner, the victim's boyfriend, and they are to be boarded with a trainer in Broomfield.

"One of the dogs was working with the trainer for aggression issues," humane society spokeswoman Stephanie Ashley said. "They had shown great improvement, according to the trainer, so (the girlfriend) was walking the dogs together."

Ashley said no citation will be issued.

"It was just a fight between two dogs, and she actually got into the middle of it," she said. "The dog did not attack her directly."
