Pit bull attack sends 2 women to hospital

NORTH CAROLINA -- A dog owner could face charges tonight, after her pit bull ripped off a piece of a woman's chest.

The dog, police say, attacked two women near Farmville Blvd in Greenville Tuesday morning.

Witnesses say the dog first chased a man into his house while he was mowing his grass. It then took off down the road and attacked a woman standing outside.

Neighbors say when they tried to get the dog off, it attacked another woman.

"If that dog would have jumped a little further because when he first bit her he bit her right there and if would have jumped higher he would have locked on her throat," said Larry Clemons, who witnessed the attack.

Both women were taken to Vidant Medical Center.

Greenville Police have quarantined the dog for 10 days.

If animal control decides the dog is vicious, then under city law, the owner will have to get rid of him.
The owner could also be facing charges.
