SOUTH DAKOTA -- Authorities say a Sioux Falls man was transported to a hospital with numerous injuries Sunday morning after he was mauled by two pit bulls.
Police say the dogs bit the victim several times. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The incident took place about 7:30 a.m. while the victim was playing basketball on a river greenway.
Authorities say the dogs were discovered later and started to pursue someone on a bike path. Police intervened and one of the pit bulls was shot when it went after an officer.
The dog was located and transported to a vet.
Police say the owners of the dogs have been contacted. No other details were available.
