The victim, an employee at Firestone Auto Care along 5th Avenue, was attacked by two dogs [identified in other media outlets as Boxers].
Representatives from Firestone tell WSAZ.com the employee was pulling a car out of one of the service bays when he was attacked. He was able to grab something, stab and kill one of the dogs.
Gerri Dingess, of Huntington, lives down the street from Firestone and says she saw the incident.
"I looked out the window and saw the dog laying over there that had been killed," Dingess said. "That was a bad situation. I'm sorry the dog got killed, but what else could you do?"
Cabell County Commission Administrator Chris Tatum says he hasn't received any complaints about vicious dogs in that specific area, but says the situation is unfortunate.
"You hate to see anyone get bitten," Tatum said. "Unfortunately, when people don't have their dogs under their own control or on leashes as they should, these things happen."
The second dog is being quarantined at the Huntington-Cabell-Wayne Animal Shelter for 10 days for further evaluation. The condition of the man is unknown.
