CANADA -- A 22-year-old woman suffered a serious bite wound to her ankle after she was attacked by two large dogs while riding her bike on Read Rd. in St. Catharines Friday.
Niagara Regional Police said two dogs attacked the woman, knocked her off her bike and bit her. A passerby intervened, scared the dogs away and called for help.
An officer shot one of the dogs, a Rottweiler, in self defence after it charged him. The second dog, a Bull Mastiff, was taken into custody by the Lincoln County Humane Society without incident.
The woman required stitches but is expected to make a full recovery.
Police and the humane society continue to investigate.
