PENNSYLVANIA -- A mother and her son are recovering after police say they were bitten by a pit bull outside their Kensington home.
It happened just after 7 p.m. at a house on Coral and Firth Streets, according to investigators. Police say a boy was running out of the house on the front lawn when the dog ran to him, latched on to his leg and wouldn’t let go. The boy’s mother was also bit after she tried to take the dog off her son’s leg.
“We heard the neighbor yelling,” said witness Nick Attica. “We saw a bunch of people in the middle of the lot. The lady had the dog chained already and through the kid’s pants you could see his flesh. The [[wound]] was deep, real deep.”
Attica also tells NBC10 the dog belongs to the boy and his mother though this was not confirmed by investigators. The child was taken to Episcopal Hospital with a large laceration on his leg.
Investigators have not yet revealed the child’s condition. The dog was captured and appeared calm as Animal Control officers took it to SPCA headquarters.
