Owner of pit bull that attacked Kalamazoo letter carrier pleads not guilty to dog attack charge

MICHIGAN -- The owner of the pit bull that attacked a Kalamazoo letter carrier on June 18 was arraigned in court on Friday.

Jason McMillon pleaded not guilty to a dog attack charge, a misdemeanor, said Carrie Klein, Kalamazoo County chief assistant prosecutor.

McMillon's dog attacked Laura Blanchard while she was delivering mail in the 1500 block of Woodrow Drive. Blanchard had wounds to her face and arm that required more than 40 stitches to repair.

The dog was euthanized. McMillon is scheduled to be back in court on August 13 for a pre-trial conference.
