MEXICO -- A 4-year-old girl died after being bitten by a pit bull at the home of several aunts in this Mexican border metropolis, police told Efe on Thursday.
The pit bull attacked when the child approached it, biting the girl in the face and throat.
Red Cross personnel rushed to the scene, a home in the poor Tijuana neighborhood of Camino Verde, but the girl's injuries were too severe, police said.
Two of the three aunts who were in the home at the time of the incident were arrested on charges of child neglect, while the pit bull was taken to the municipal pound.
Tijuana authorities have issued several warnings about the dangers of keeping a pit bull in the home.
