GEORGIA -- Paulding County Marshalls are investigating a case of horse abuse.
In early July they received a call about several horses that were abandoned at 123 Creek Stone Path Hiram Ga. 30141.
Upon the arrival of a Paulding County Animal Control officer, it was found the horses were not abandoned, rather very malnourished.
The owner was at the residence.
After an investigation one male and one female were each charged with four counts of animal cruelty, four counts of failure to provide humane care for equines, and four counts of failure to provide food and water to such equines.
At that time we also impounded the horses and provided immediate vet care.
Upon the veterinarian's initial health check the horses (Cody, Dakota, Gracie, and Twilight) were given all required medical attention and placed on a strict diet to help offset the malnourished condition.
All four horses are now putting on weight and showing signs of improvement.
