Two charged in animal cruelty

NORTH CAROLINA -- Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Thursday arrested Diego Armando Arroyo-Solis, 21, of Yadkinville; and Faith Smith Arroyo, 28, Jonesville, on warrants taken out by detectives involving the starvation of a horse.


Detectives received an anonymous call of an animal compliant in Jonesville and discovered a horse that was extremely malnourished and in bad health belonging to Arroyo-Solis. Per the recommendation of the local veterinarian, the horse had to be [euthanized].

Arroyo-Solis was charged with one count of felony cruelty to animals and one count of felony kill animal by starvation. He was placed under a $5,000 dollar secure bond.

Faith Smith Arroyo was charged with one count felony kill animals by starvation and one count misdemeanor cruelty to animals. Faith Smith Arroyo was placed under a $2,000 dollar secure bond.
