TEXAS -- A 12-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after a neighbor’s dog escaped and bit him on the arm Monday morning, police said.
The boy was walking to school in the 7900 block of Bauman in northeast Houston when he was attacked.

Officers said it appeared the pit bull knocked aside a cinder block, and crawled through a hole in a fence.
One boy said it’s not the first time something like this has happened.
"Cause last time we were walking and they just started to bite our pants and ripping them up," he said.
But the owner and her neighbor said the boys often antagonized the dog.

"All the time the kids walk by. He starts barking at anybody who walks by," Raydene Ambriz said. "The neighbor has seen the kids kick at my fence and things like that."
"In the morning, they just be passing by and throwing rocks at the dogs, and if you throw rocks at the pit bull that gives them a lot of tension," said Mario Moriado, a neighbor.

Police said the child was taken to LBJ Hospital in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
The dog will be quarantined at BARC for 10 days and checked for signs of rabies, which is standard procedure. BARC employees say the dog appears to have a gentle disposition, but does have mange and other health issues.
The owner will be asked to surrender the dog. If she refuses she could face neglect charges.
