Chincoteague man attacked by son's dogs

VIRGINIA -- Chincoteague police say a man was mauled by his son's three pit bulls inside the home they shared.

Police Chief Edward Lewis says Leon Hall's son found Hall lying on the floor or on a bed with severe cuts on his arms and legs after the attack Tuesday. The animals have been taken away by Accomack County authorities.

Lewis did not know Hall's age.

Hall was treated at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md., before being taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. A spokeswoman there says he is in critical condition.

Although the investigation into the attack is ongoing, Lewis says he doesn't anticipate any charges being filed.
