ETX woman arrested after deputies find horses in poor condition

TEXAS  -- Bowie County authorities arrested a New Boston woman Wednesday after discovering that six horses in her care were "extremely emaciated."

Terri Danielle Johnson, aka Terri Danielle Pool, 33, was charged with cruelty to livestock animals, a Class A misdemeanor, in connection with the case.

This is one of the horses that died as a result of a severe
case of animal neglect near DeKalb. Terri Danielle Johnson
has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty as a result
of an investigation by the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office.

The Bowie County Sheriff's Office received a report on September 5 that some horses were starving on property located on Highway 82, about three miles east of DeKalb.

Investigators located six horses on that property on September 7 and got warrant to seize them after finding them in such poor condition.

One horse was euthanized and the other later died.

After learning who was responsible for the care of the animals, deputies arrested her.

The sheriff's office was awarded care of the remaining four horses, which eventually will be adopted out.
