GEORGIA -- A Warner Robins woman was arrested Saturday on charges of Cruelty to Animals, which is a felony.

Mirand Delphine Thomas

52-year-old Mirand Delphine Thomas is in the Houston County Jail followed the arrest.

Officers responded Saturday to 219 Ward Street in reference to animal cruelty. The preliminary investigation supported a witness account that Thomas beat her dog with a club. Officers also observed the dog to have several visible injuries.

[In the video, the neighbor who shot the video says this all never would have happened if Ms. Thomas had simply stopped beating her dog, like the neighbor had asked her to do. According to the neighbor, she beat the Labrador mix on purpose to "make it mean" - presumably she was trying to turn it into a guard dog.]

The dog was transported to a veterinarian to treat his injuries.
