Woman hurt in dog attack

MISSISSIPPI -- A Grenada woman received 20 stitches after being bitten by her neighbor’s dog last Friday.
According to a police report, Margaret Boyd, 50, was attacked outside her home at 1245 Fairground Rd., around 1:15 p.m.
Boyd said that her niece dropped her off in front of her house, then she noticed that the back gate to her property was open. When Boyd walked over to shut it, two dogs charged her.
According to Boyd, the dogs belonged to her neighbor.

Boyd only remembered being bitten by one of the dogs.

“It was just gnawing on my legs, and I was bleeding so badly,” said Boyd, who used her purse to beat the dog back. Boyd crawled away, then ran into her house. She hit re-dial on her phone and called her sister, who called 911.

“I wrapped towels around my legs, and I was just screaming and crying hysterically,” said Boyd.
Police and medical personnel arrived within minutes. An officer shot and critically wounded one dog after it charged him, the report said.
