Dog attacks woman in west Ventura

CALIFORNIA -- A pit bull bit a woman in an attack Monday night in west Ventura, city fire officials said.

Authorities said the woman agreed to watch her neighbor's dog and that the dog attacked her without warning about 7:35 p.m. in the 100 block of Flint Street.

The woman was taken to Community Memorial Hospital for treatment. She suffered moderate injuries, officials said.

The dog was kept in the backyard until Ventura County Animal Control officers could arrive, according to fire officials.

There was no information on what happened to the dog.
