Father attacked, injured by three pit bulls near Welches

OREGON -- The son of a Rhododendron man said his father was attacked and injured by three pit bulls Wednesday morning.

In an email to KATU News, Nathan Wulff said his father, Larry, 63, was walking his own dog when the pit bulls broke through a fence and attacked.

Nathan said his father had to get 16 stitches in his face and "has bite marks all over his body." He also said his father's dog, a 10-year-old Husky named "Mootz," had one ear bitten off.

Nathan also said the pit bulls' owner tried to break up the attack and was also injured.

Larry Wulff was taken to a medical facility and does not have life-threatening injuries, Nathan said. He did not say what condition Mootz was in but said a preliminary exam showed the dog had serious injuries.

He said his father is very thankful that he "is in good shape" after the attack, but Larry said the dog was "in bad shape."

Nathan Wulff said his mother told him the dogs attacked another dog shortly after the owners moved in about a month ago. He said the owners fixed the fence, but the dogs were able to break through again on Wednesday.

Larry Wulff said he has been talking to Clackamas County Animal Control about the situation.
