NEW JERSEY -- A borough woman is charged with 25 counts of animal cruelty after animal protection officers raided her Meade Avenue home to find the felines living in wretched conditions, authorities said.
Elizabeth Kreslin, 56, of the first block of Meade Avenue was charged after investigators from the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals received numerous complaints about a “horrible stench” and conditions at the house, said Victor “Buddy” Amato, chief law enforcement officer at the MCSPCA.
“The house was horrific,” Amato said. “The cats were living in total filth. It was awful. As you walked inside (the house) you wanted to vomit.”
MCSPCA Lt. Ronnie Ehrensteck and veterinary technicians removed the 25 cats from the home, and the borough health department was called in, Amato said.
