Pit bulls banned in Etowah

TENNESSEE -- An East Tennessee city has made it against the law to own any breed of pit bull.

The Etowah City Commission passed the law on Monday.

No new pit bulls are allowed within city limits.  Those who already own a pit bull can keep their pets, but they will have to abide by strict new rules.

Current pit bull owners will be required to register their dogs with the city, muzzle them in public, and keep them confined indoors or in a locked pen.
